When I asked around who is Mahathir Mohamad? There's replies I've got from friends and people are "aiyaaa , he's the Prime Minister of Malaysia", haha, that's their answer. And now, I want to share with everyone, who is Mahathir Mohamad.

For me, words can't be describe my admiration and respect that I had for this honourable man. He is one individual who has done Malaysia a great service during his time as Prime Minister of Malaysia. I guess not everyone know about Mahathir's life before joining politics and became Malaysia's 4rd Prime Minister, so let me share with all the knowledge I have about this man.

Mahathir bin Mohamad was born on December 20th, 1925 in Alor Setar, Kedah. He is the youngest child in the family of nine children. Mahathir's father is Mohamad Iskandar and he was the first malay to be the headmaster in an english-language school in Kedah. Mahathir's mother is Cik Wan Tempawan binti Cik Wan Hanapi, a long sweet name.. Hehe. She was a full time housewife. Mahathir was pampered by the rest of his family who called him by his pet name CHE DET, I guess everyone here know that Mahathir still using Che Det as his name on his blog.

Since he was young, Mahathir was taught to read by his father and he was prohibited to play outside the compound of their house even in daytime. Even at his early age, Mahathir had a very strong will to suceed. He spent most of his time learning and studying. Mahathir likes to work hard. Mahathir began his primary school in Sekolah Melayu Seberang Perak that was located close to his house. Later, he passed the entrace examination for government english school which later changed its name to Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid. In his school days, Mahathir ever written down that he want to be lawyer, doctor, policeman, and a teacher. He thought that the best he would end up was as a clerk. Despite all of this, Mahathir was very happy during his school days. He was elected as the editor of Majalah Darul Aman. Mahathir also took and won many debate competitions. His favourite sport was rugby. Can you believe that? Of all the sports he choose rugby. Hehehe. All these came to a stanstill when the japanese conquered and occupied Malaya in 1942. All school were closed. Only japanese-language schools were allowed. Mahathir attended japanese language school, but he gave up before he could master the japanse language.

Mahathir decide to get a job. He tried to get a job from a ruber trader, but he was rejected because the chinese would not employ malays at that time, then he setting up a coffee stall business. During the japanese time, Mahathir was not alone facing this hardship proverty. Then he sold his coffee stall and he started a business by sellng fruits. It was while doing the business at this very young age, Mahathir realise that the malays were left behind in all aspect compared to all other races. In 1945 the japanese defeated and surrendered..

Mahathir wanted to change the fate of his people, so then he decided to enter politic someday. His experience of running his own business had shown him how he could help to free his people from proverty and to live a better life. Mahathir began to get involved in active politics when he finishes his secondary school. He lead a group of his school friends to campaign againt setting up the Malayan Union. He joined UMNO when it was set up in 1946.
